Mike Giesbrecht - President

Mike has been working as Respiratory Therapist for more than ten years. After graduating from TRU, Mike gained clinical experience at both Royal Columbian Hospital and Peace Arch Hospital. Mike has held several practice leadership positions in Fraser Health including Professional Practice Leader at Delta and Royal Columbian Hospital. He is currently employed as the Regional Practice Leader for Respiratory Therapy. In terms of education, Mike has completed a Bachelor in Health Science (TRU) and an Executive Masters of Business Administration in Health Care (UBC). Professional interests include the standardization and integration of care, interprofessional practice, and practice transitions.

Scott Vigliotti - Director At Large

Scott graduated from TRU in 1995 working briefly in Victoria at RJH and VGH as a staff therapist before moving to Vancouver in 1996. In Vancouver Scott worked as a staff therapist and part-time clinical site coordinator for TRU at VGH from 1996-2003; leaving VGH for St Paul’s to fulfill the role of full-time clinical site coordinator from 2003-2007.  Scott then worked in the private sector for Covidien before returning to the public health sector in 2009 as Professional Practice Leader at Richmond Hospital.

Kiran Dhillon - Treasure

Kiran has been working as a Respiratory Therapist at Surrey Memorial Hospital for four and a half years. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Biology in 2005. After graduation she furthered her education at Thompson Rivers University and fast tracked into Respiratory Therapy.

Tanya Shaw- Secretary

Tanya graduated from the University Collage of the Cariboo (TRU) in 1996. Tanya gained clinical experience working at Yorkton Regional Hospital and as a Homecare Specialist in the Province of Saskatchewan. She then returned to British Columbia and has been working in the Fraser Health Authority. Over the past fourteen years, Tanya has excellent clinical experience at Chilliwack General Hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital. Tanya is currently working as a NICU Core Therapist at Surrey Memorial Hospital during this exciting time of transitioning to the new Critical Care Tower, which includes the expansion of a 48bed NICU. Her professional interests include involvement with Professional Practice and advocating for Respiratory Therapy.

Tom Dorval - Director at Large

Tom graduated from the Algonquin College Respiratory Therapy Program in 1979 and completed his Master of Education Degree at Simon Fraser University in 1994. Early in his career he worked in a variety of hospitals in Ontario and BC. In 1995 Tom started his teaching career as the Clinical Site Coordinator at St Paul’s Hospital moving to what is now Thompson Rivers University in 1988 where he is currently teaching. Tom has a long history of been active in Respiratory Therapy societies both provincially and nationally. Some of the positions he has held in the past include BCSRT Director at Large, President of the CSRT and Chair of the Council on Accreditation of Respiratory Therapy Education.

Gillian Cond - Student Director

Gillian is currently a first year Respiratory Therapy student at Thompson Rivers University.  Gillian has been employed with the Canadian Forces Reserves as a Medical Technician for six years.  She gained valuable clinical experience while working for Canadian Forces Health Services Group Pacific as she has completed employment terms in their urgent care clinic, physiotherapy department, and pharmacy.  During her time with the Canadian Forces, Gillian qualified as a Primary Care Paramedic (JIBC).  Professional interests include Respiratory Therapists Without Borders, humanitarian and disaster relief efforts, and patient education.
